Do you ever find that your dog has a favorite toy that they destroy? Tough chewers tend to rip and tear through stuffed animals and eat rope toys. Now days pet toys are so expensive that we are always looking for toys that are labeled as “indestructible”, but is there really such a thing?

I have witnessed many dozens of toys lose their toy lives in the jaws of a doberman, Rottweiler and labs. I can tell you that in the last 20 years of being in the pet industry, that no toys are safe. Keep this in mind when you are desperatly searching for the right toy for your dog. They chewing power is unmatched by anything we can imagine, therefor we must be patient with our k9 friends while seeking out toys that will keep them mentally stimulated. Chewing provides a primal intstinct for our pets. It is engrained in their DNA.

Do your dogs burry their toys, treats or odd objects? This is natures way of keeping preadators at bay from taking their revered prize. Consider this a sign of gratitute when you give them something and they burry or hide it. They take mental inventory of all the items they get and will dig them back up or go find a hidden toy when you ask them to. Dogs are remarkable.

So, with all this being said, what toys do you look for in giving your pets chewing satisfaction? Is it the legendary KONG? Rope toy maybe? Whatever it may be please remember that our pets have natural instincts that date back to the grey wolf over 100,000 years ago. Animals in the wild remind us that nature should be preserved and respected, even in our tiny to extra large 4 legged family.
